The Coming New Digital Hell

Many technophobes experience a personal digital hell on a daily basis. But, fast forward 100 years to a fully digitized society. Physical newspapers and magazines have ceased to exist. Books are all nestled within the Applazon Cloud by monopolizing the rights when the...

A Community’s Legacy of Change

I recently sat on the outside patio of the Auburn, Indiana Starbucks, pondering historical legacy in the context of community. Many years ago, as a teenager, this very spot might have been where I experienced the first garlicy joys of Fazoli's breadsticks. Before that, the...

Welcome to My Last “Blog Post”

Have you noticed I don’t post on my blog at 1Glories all that often any longer? Here’s why: it became a distraction. If you’ve ever blogged and tried to do so, you know that chasing visits, clicks, optimizing for search and such is exhausting! The blogger has to have at...

2021 Hits, Misses, and More

2021 Hits, Misses, and More

As we approach Christmas and the 2021 year-end, I’m reflecting upon what was and what may be. Actually, I’ve spent the last 20-ish months thinking about who and what I want to be when I grow up. A mid-life crisis sparked by covid, perhaps. I don’t know. But definitely...

Not Giving Up… Even When the Universe Hates You

Refining Life, on Purpose

Refining life, on purpose–at the core–is about personal development. In a deeper sense, it’s personal development of character and progression toward who we’re meant to be.

It’s a discipline (don’t worry – “discipline” does not always have to equal “bad”) that is sorely missing from many homes, schools–and even churches–in our modern world.

This why I was led to start 1Glories. In fact, I struggled with the decision to make that pivot before I did. But now that I have, I cannot tell you how significant it has been to my own personal journey toward becoming the person–the man, husband, father and friend–I want to be portrayed when my eulogy is written.

1Glories

Let’s address the most obvious question; what’s with the name, 1Glories?  Essentially, it’s a way of saying there’s “ONE God, who gets all GLORIES.” It’s a name that sort of came to me after realizing I spend too much time chasing personal glories for my benefit and not to bring glory to God.
