This is a personal reflection of today's Advent devotion from Great News for Great Joy (download for free now from Desiring God). Please also share your reflections in the comments area.
A few years back, I was going through a rough time that was filled with anxiety, fear and hopelessness. I hadn't lost faith or belief in God, but I was desperate for some form or personal restoration. I did an assessment of my life, largely through prayer. I developed the first of my yearly affirmations, designed to be read daily and in times of need. Near the end of 2011, I developed a new affirmation and am currently prayer over this year's iteration. Through a lot of prayer and soul search, the light in my life began to shine brighter. The common thread in each affirmation is the truth that God is ALWAYS with me. And He is FOR me! The belief in that undeniable truth is what allows that light to shine and, indeed, it is what brings me personal peace.
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing” ~ Romans 15:13
May you all be so blessed today, tomorrow and always.
