Yes, let us morn and recognize those who have gone before. However, let us be mindful that, one day, we'll be enjoying undivided peace.
Today, in honor of the brave, We decorate the soldier's grave; In fitting words and purpose true, We pay the tribute that is due; And unto God we humbly pray That soon may come that better day, When war forevermore shall cease, And all the world shall live in peace. Great glory to the millions gone, Who died that we might carry on; Who answered when they heard the call, And bravely fought and gave their all, But ever mindful should we be, That though they died for you and me, 'Twas but a lesson unto men That war should never come again. Aye, there's a way if but the will, For God ne'er meant that men should kill, And to that end we're coming fast, When we shall profit by the past; And though today we criticise And scorn the one who nobly tries To end it all, that day we'll see When war will end eternally. And so, united let us stand, Throughout our own and every land; One thought in mind, one goal in view, And God will safely bring us through; For when it all is said and done, No war has ever yet been won, For, born of hate and greed and sin, The victors lose although they win. Some Other Memorial/Decoration Day Posts at 1Glories:
