One of my favorite Seinfeld episodes is the one where George makes up a charity and then tells everyone that, for Christmas, he's made a donation in their name to that charity on their behalf.
He called that charity "The Human Fund". And then, when his boss offers a $20,000 contribution to the same fund, George momentarily considers the merit of his fake organization - that is until he and the mock non-profit that provides "money for people" is exposed as a fraud.
Before there was Seinfeld, and before there was the Cleveland-based organization that possibly was inspired before it, there was a REAL Human Fund. There was God, who put our sins on his Son, and judged them there, so He could put them out of His mind, and deal with us mercifully, remaining just and holy at the same time. Hebrews 9:28 says,
“Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many.”

Baseball had just lost one of its greatest personalities with the passing of Yogi Berra when I originally wrote this post in 2015. In addition to being a great player, manager, and war veteran, Berra was well-known for his Yogi-isms. Upon first hearing many, they...
God is a God of Comebacks. I know this to be true. You see, when I first wrote this post back in 2016, I really wondered if I could stage a comeback, or if I was done for. I was down and out, feeling very much a failure. Emotionally spent and clinging to hope, I asked...
In this first of a three part series, we consider transparency with God. It comes after studying Dr. Thomas Manton's 27th sermon on Psalm 119. Manton is relatively unknown today. However, the preacher and theologian of the 1600s was prominently known and influential....
