Last night, I was doing a very brief test drive of my vehicle following a repair. I only had time to drive around the block near our house, but it was impactful. As I drove, Jeremy Camp’s rendition of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” was playing on the radio. Taking a little pleasure in the fact that my repair had worked as intended, I soon became wrapped in the quiet melody as I peered at the many Christmas lights on the homes of my neighbors. I soon became an 8-year-old in my mind. As I neared my house, entrance, I decided another drive around the block was in order and passed my home. I was reminded about how magical Christmas time can be. As adults, we lose sight of that fact. We get caught up in the stress and the amount of labor required to make the time seem magical for our own children. But we also forget that the first Christmas was “magical” through a simple birth of a child. That child ushered in a new era for we sinners. He arrived and Kings stepped down from their thrones. He arrived and gave you and I purpose. He arrived and healed the hurting. He arrived. He lived. He died and changed the course of humanity.
