Advent 2012: Beyond the Shadows

Dec 14, 2012 | Advent 2012, Devotions

Written By Chad Gramling

Lord, I am preparing this blog post using an Amazon Kindle Fire as my youngest daughter lays quietly resting on my lap. Most nights, this is how I blog. Often, it' s as I lay next to my middle daughter as she tries to sleep or as I sit in a chair next to the bed of my oldest daughter as she tries to sleep. I usually dread bed time because the youthful exuberance combined with my exhaustion from the day makes it a bit overwhelming. But today, my daughters all got extra hugs when I got home because today was a heart wrenching reminder of how lucky I am each and every day I have them in my life. I pray they all come to know you Dear God. I pray they will see beyond the shadows of this soul sucking land and know there is so much more for them with you in Heaven. Please Lord, bring comfort to those who had their lives drastically altered by the sinister activities of this day. Even in the midst of all this, bring Glory to your kingdom oh Lord. Grant us all safety, protection, wisdom and favor so we might rise above and bring healing and a rekindled passion to serve in your Holy name. Amen.
