Refining Life, on Purpose

A Year of Listening Up at 1Glories

What is the Year of Listening Up (YLU)?

At the end of my book, Listen Up Kids, I share twelve life lessons that I highlight within the narrative. I dedicated the following year (2016) to spending a month on each one of those lessons to explore them in more detail. Readers of 1Glories were encouraged to join me in by commenting, guest posting and more. The goal was to help others learn to “listen up” to where, why and how God leads us.

The Year of Listening Up

Below is the schedule/archive for YLU18. I really encourage you to also peruse and read selections from the YLU17 Page and the YLU16 page.

What do you resolve for the year ahead? At 1Glories, in 2018, we’ll be taking a new approach to the Year of Listening Up, studying the theology of Jonathan Edwards, launching a new service and publishing new books! It’s going to be an exciting way of refining life, on purpose.

Below is the lineup of topics along with the tentative month in which they will be covered. Looking forward to another great year of refining life, on purpose filled with growth, inspiration and connection!

The Topics We’re Covering in #YLU18

In praying as I considered categorizing Edwards resolutions, it strongly felt they should be grouped according to the fruits of the spirit, as identified in Galatians 5:22-23 – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

I’l admit that some do not easily fit into their assigned area. Also, it had not been Edwards’ intention to do so. However, given these resolutions are about developing a God centered life, and the fruits are representation of that development, this seemed appropriate.

You’ll also find they span topics including, matters of time, relationships, sin, human nature, esteem, and emotions. Additionally, they speak to behavior, motives, humanity, good works, service, and so much more. They provide a context for Christian living and development.
