Lost in the wake of evolving business models, emerging tech, and consumer behaviors is the intimacy of a local bookstore. With that loss comes a disconnection from local authors who would do book signings, readings, presentations, and more. This hurts authors financially, but it also narrows the joy they get from offering the message, knowledge, and entertainment value that drives them to their craft. It also robs local communities of knowledge transfer, local pride, and that connectional feeling of being part of a bigger collective.
In light of this, I’ve been passively noting local authors as I learn about them with the intention of making them better known and giving just a piece of that forum back to these artisans. Here’s the ever-developing list…
