In pretty much all instances, the number 40 represents struggle in some regard. It could be a period of waiting or a period of immense challenge. What we sometimes miss, though, is the fact that once that period concludes, the 41 begins. With it, we experience a new season. A season of revival, of triumph, of hope assured. Tate shares many examples to prove that, no matter how giant the obstacle of your 40 may be, the season that commences at your 41 will be well worth it. You receive an understanding that giving up is never an option when you're called by God.

Your 41 Will Come Against Giants

Tate's book uses the well-known story of David and Goliath as a backdrop of his narrative. It's always helpful to look at a familiar story or circumstance from a different vantage. In so doing, we gain new perspective and insight. This is great stuff that many of us might have previously missed or overlooked. It works great in this instance. Like David, you have and you will face personal giants. You have probably felt or will feel unqualified. But God calls you - even at your lowest points. He has prepared you to shine.

Tate weaves personal experiences among the David and Goliath story to salt the application of his teaching. At the same time, he candidly shares one of his giant 40's by relating how he'd longed to write a book, but felt unqualified.
