Refining Life, on Purpose

Resolve: Thoughts on Resolutions, Revelations and Preparation

I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. ~ Philippians 3:14 If you are chattering about New Year’s Resolutions, you’re not alone. Whether you do so for fun or for attempts to make serious change in your life, it’s a custom that receives a lot of attention every year as we approach the coming New Year. I did a brief observation of the many tweets that include the hashtag #newyearsresolution to see what’s on the minds of others. They ranged from the absurd to the sad to the strange and to […]

Next: a 1Glories Lenten Devotional – It’s On

Was in meditation today and was told by God that we’ll be producing a 1Glories Lenten Devotional on our blog. And it will be done the 1Glories way . . . simple and impactful. Designed to be shared. Encouraging and inspiring. More about the “why” and “how” coming later (we have a few weeks to prepare). UPDATE: Sorry friends and followers. Not going to happen this year. Ran out of time. Still looking forward to an Easter eBook though. 🙂

Next: Where to from here?

This is a “free range” post where I’ll spew out what’s on my mind to share what’s ahead. I guess it will be similar to what Mark Zuckerberg – as played by Jesse Eisenberg – did in the movie, “The Social Network”. I promise I’ll do my best to not offend and it likely won’t be as brilliant, but it will do two things – first it will outline what’s ahead and invite you to share in the journey and secondly, it will serve as a checklist of sorts for me to move forward, albeit not in any specific order. […]

Adequate: Finding Personal Relevance in God’s Plans

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. ~ Jeremiah 29:11 Despite a lifetime of bold and larger than life dreams, I am very aware that I perpetuate a prevailing narrative that is riddled with self-loathing, doubt and a self image that is truly quite the opposite. In actuality, I’ve always put myself in the role of the underdog (which may be why I often am one of those who is rooting for underdogs to rise above). However, rarely have I […]

Stories: The Heart of 1Glories

I really need to sit down and write out my testimony that sparked this idea. It’s been in my head for a long time. I’m sure it looks to many observers that I’m merely just “making another blog” but there really is a more inspired purpose. In due time, I promise. For now, let me provide a bit of an appetizer. It comes following an N.D. Wilson post I read over at Desiring God called “Stories are Soul Food: Don’t Let Your Children Hunger”. In that post, he opines… Bible-believing Christians frequently have a deep mistrust of fiction. In particular, […]
