At age 14, Kirk Cameron began the role as Mike Seaver on the hit television show, Growing Pains. It sent him flying down a path of instant stardom. He was also pulled into the entertainment industry and enjoying “the good life” at pretty much every corner. Having not been brought up in a home environment that was churched, Cameron viewed himself as an atheist and laughed at those who believed.

At age seventeen, he was introduced to God and God’s word when he was invited to church. The pastor’s message provoked him to desire a deeper understanding of eternity and faith as well as sharing the Gospel with others. It was the pivotal point of his career and life that shifted his sights toward honoring God. In the process, it led to impressions of pot stirring on the set of his show and in his personal relationships with others.

And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.
~ Mark 16:15

His conversion to Christianity is particularly noteworthy because he was at a perceived height in worldly standards and gave it up to pursue the greater desires of God. Cameron gravitated toward religious activism while insisting the story lines of his roles not include racy or adult material.

He continues to act, produce and – most importantly – evangelize to this day. In addition, along with his wife Chelsea and their family, Cameron founded and runs Camp Firefly, a unique camp for terminally and seriously ill children and their families.

He also is co-host of The Way of the Master television show, which is a ministry-minded program focused on inspiring and equipping Christians, enabling them to share the Gospel in the same manner as Christ… simply, effectively, biblically.
